It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

I am all for this and honoring these boys who have died far too young. but what about the other kids that have committed suicide recently, like phoebe price. I believe there needs to be a day for all these kids who couldn't make it through these trying days. The statement says "Please know that times will get better and that you meet people who live and respect you for who you are no matter your sexuality." so if sexuality doesn't matter we need to honor Phoebe Price and the other children who lost their lives too young to bullying.



bullying is a very big issue for me, having been bullied all my life.

Yeah it looks like they have changed it no honor all the young people who have died due to homophobic bullying and not just these young people. Somebody brought up to the girl organizing asking if she had the families permission to do this and only had friend permission to get this rolling so she has changed it.
