I am sorry to report

That sadly Amendment 1 passed with flying color here in NC today.

Amendment One, erroneously described as a referendum on same-sex marriage. For people that pay attention Same- sex marriage was banned in NC last year without it is even making the news with the passing of this law it renders civil unions and domestic partnerships ineligible for legal protection.

So in other words if I had the hankering to do so I can marry my first cousin but I cant find somebody and live with a person that I love and want to spend the rest of my life without it breaking the law. We would have no rights to each other at all so if they worked somewhere they offered health insurance for domestic partners in NC you wouldnt be covered, if we did break the law and live in the same house together they could raise their hand to me or I to them and thanks to this law being in effect a Domestic Violence order couldnt be issued.

If we have children together that child has no rights for health insurance or to a name since they were not born to a wedded couple.

So thank you NC for showing how backwards you are and how much you care for your fellow man, woman and children that live her and not want to have a piece of paper that says they are legally allowed to be together.

I heard about this bonehead move of NC late this afternoon. First thought that went through my head was, "How pissed off is Jen?"

Very very very pissed off

I don't understand why there are so many closed mind assholes out there. Everyone has the right to marry, if they want.

They do need to worry more about the debt and education than sticking their noses in people bedrooms and lives.

One of the many things that bothers me about this is the fact that the protection order I have against my ex is now null and void because we were not married.

I already told my Ma if this thing passed I was out of this state now to find a place to move to.

Nah I just moved back here in 09 to help take care of my mom who is sick. Since 99 I have lived in Italy, Germany, VA, SC, CA and DC

I'd offer my couch but we have our bonehead Governor and State Legislature.

I really wish Florida would split in half, let the crazies have the north and let us sane people have the south.

I get to see the crazy first hand when I drive my happy butt to Miami next month.

[identity profile] gatechic.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
WOOT! You're going on a cruise, right?

The only crazies we have in Miami are the Cuban Exiles. Thankfully, the younger generation has a mind of their own and are not solely focused on Castro. North Florida is known as South Georgia. Central Florida waffles back and forth, but South Florida is definitely Progressive except for those that voted for Allen West.

Yup I get to Miami on the fifth pick my friend Maria up on the 6th and we are talking about getting new ink done while down there and going bowling at Lucky Strike on the 6th.

Who is Allen West or do I not want to know?

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. We had the same law passed here and what people didn't understand is that the law also hurts straight couples, especially elderly couples who don't want to get married.

When these people were elected into office in 2010, didn't they promise to create jobs? So why are they are so focused on my womb and my bedroom?

[identity profile] diesa-j.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I find it funny that corporations and fetuses have more rights in the south than women and same sex couples Because dont you know that corporations are people also.

[identity profile] gatechic.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, fetuses have rights up until they're born, after that they're on their own. Now that's Pro-Life. NOT!

I really wish people who call themselves Pro-Life would actually take the time to learn what Pro-Life means. They wouldn't be so quick to cut social programs, would care about the environment, would care about social justice, would care about economic justice, be against capital punishment, and would be against unjust wars.

[identity profile] diesa-j.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly couldnt have said it better myself.

[identity profile] gatechic.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
WORD!

I learned what Pro-Life means from a Nun. This was back in 2004 and it really opened my eyes.

[identity profile] diesa-j.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Really from a Nun? Wow

[identity profile] jeymien.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
What's really scary is that some of the coverage I've read on the net is claiming a large percentage of people didn't even know what they were voting for...

Left agenda? I don't know.. but that's pretty crazy if true.

[identity profile] diesa-j.livejournal.com 2012-05-09 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And they didnt because the churches were pushing only the small part of the law that had to do with same sex marriage
